Transmuter: Pacific Drive Resource Explained

Transmuters in Pacific Drive are devices that convert one resource into another, making them useful when you’ve run out of something essential during your travels. They are most commonly found in ARDA Towers, though they can occasionally appear in other Mid Zone and Deep Zone areas.
Transmuters can spawn in the following biomes:
- Damp Forest
- Blistering Woods
- The Mires
- The Scorch
- Red Spires
- Smokestacks
Transmuters are Pacific Drive’s take on a trading system. While the device technically “transforms” one resource into another, it essentially functions as a trade mechanic, allowing you to exchange certain items for others.
Transmuter trading can be used to access late-game resources earlier, such as trading a Bulb for Tree Candy. However, the trades offered aren’t guaranteed and can vary each time. Also, if you come across a Transmuter with a favorable trade, you can only use it during that specific run. The next time you visit the same Junction, both the map and the trade will be reset. So, good luck having the right input resources at the right time!
I rarely used them during my playthrough, either because I didn’t have the required materials with me or the resource being offered wasn’t something I needed at the time.
How to Use Transmuters?
When you come across a Transmuter, you’ll find an information screen on its lower right side. This shows its details, such as the trade supported, the number of remaining trade charges, and the amount of input resources needed for the output.
Input resource for the trade.
Output resource for the trade.
Remaining trade charges.
Required quantity.
A pie chart indicates how many trade charges are left. The input resource is highlighted in yellow, while the output resource appears in green. Once all trade charges are used up, the Transmuter becomes inactive, and there’s no way to recharge it.
When you’re within range of a Transmuter, stand in front of it, and the game will prompt you to interact by pressing E (on PC). This opens the inventory screen, allowing you to input the required items to receive the output resources.
